GEARS Kids Center is seeking a fun, friendly, positive person to join an exciting program working with children.  Part time AGS position available with our School Age Program.  Must be motivated, enthusiastic, and caring.  Morning and Afternoon hours are available Monday through Friday, additional hours available on early dismissals and No school days.  Kids Center Office is located at 70 South Poplar Street, Elizabethtown.

Requirements:
High School Diploma
2 years experience with children
Reliable transportation
Must be flexible
Willingness to earn CDA

JOB TITLE:  Child Care Assistant Group Supervisor

ACCOUNTABLILITY:  Child Care Director

JOB SUMMARY:  Assist Group Supervisor by offering quality childcare with an emphasis on the whole child.  Provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment, where self concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected. 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

§         To supervise Kids Center kids while at the Center and on all trips away from the Center.

§         To conduct, record, and evaluate monthly fire drills and at least 1 other safety drills every month.

§         To interact, initiate and encourage the children in the activities of the day.  Play with and supervise children in crafts, organized games, and free play.

§         Use a positive, consistent approach, based on Kids Center training and policy, to help children control behavior.  Carry out appropriate and positive discipline as established by the center’s policies and procedures.

§         Provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment while helping the children become independent and interdependent. Work to meet the children’s needs in all areas – physical, emotional, social and intellectual.

§         To assist Site Director in planning crafts, games, and other activities when requested.

§         Maintain good communication with parents, and make each family feel comfortable at the Center.  Be sensitive, responsive, and act as a resource person for them.

§         Develop and maintain a cooperative and supportive atmosphere at the center.

§         Assist in record keeping by passing observations on to Site Director and/or Director regarding the children’s health, unusual or recurring behavioral problems, suspected child abuse, or conditions, which negatively affect the child or group of children.

§         Supervise children going to, at, and returning from the bus during school year and/or during the summer.

§         Attend and participate constructively in scheduled staff meetings and any site meetings.

§         Perform various cleaning duties not limited to, but including sweeping, dry mopping, wet mopping, picking up toys, supplies, and trash; taking out trash, and putting it in the dumpster, relining the trash cans, cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks and furniture; cleaning walls, kitchen and all kitchen supplies.

§         Perform all first aid and cleaning tasks involving suspected body fluids and/or contaminants (bacteria, viruses) in manner outlined in the health procedures guidelines. * School may prefer that the janitor clean body fluids.  They use special cleaner in these situations.

§         Lift, carry, put away, and get out supplies up to 25 lbs, or lift a child in an emergency.

§         Maintain room arrangement that is safe, inviting, interesting, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate.  Follow the daily plans and schedule so program goals are met.  In absence of Site Director or Group Supervisor, supervise aides and ensure adequate staff/child ratio at all times.

§         Dispense or administer all authorized medications, according to the official medication log for children under the employee’s care.

§         Stay with children past scheduled time when parent(s) are late.

§         Closing duties include but are not limited to, putting tables up, putting cabinet(s) away, taking trash out, making sure bathrooms are tidy, lights are off and doors are locked.  Lock up building when not in the room, i.e. outside on the playground. Transport payments and paperwork from center to the office and vice versa.

§         Perform any other duties assigned necessary for the smooth operation of the center.


 
Part-Time Coordinator
Responsible individuals are needed for part-time evening and/or Saturday hours. Monitor and oversee recreation activities, sports leagues and building security.

Lifeguards
GEARS Recreation is seeking certified lifeguards for activities at the Masonic Village pools. Applicants must have CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Swimming Instructors
GEARS Recreation is seeking qualified swimming instructors to teach/assist with American Red Cross Learn to Swim Lessons and infant/Preschool Aquatics . Individual must have Experience with children. Lifeguard and/or Water Safety Instructor Certification a plus.
