Summer Youth Program  
Summer Playground
This Summer, your child can have fun with other kids right in your own neighborhood park or elementary school. Trained program leaders will lead supervised, quality recreation activities. Kids will learn social and physical skills through recreation activities. But it’s more than fun and games. This program promotes good citizenship among children, and the fun activities keep kids active and entertained. Summer Playground offers a wide variety of recreational activities to children. Playground Leaders will create safe, supervised and fun-filled environments with activities including sports, games, arts & crafts and nature activities.

2008 Camp Ladybug
Come on a journey with GEARS this year at Camp Ladybug. This program is for individuals that may be mentally and/or physically challenged. Camp provides a fun atmosphere where the campers may participate in socialization skills and recreational activities.

Drinks are supplied each day and the campers are asked to bring a favorite snack. Campers may also bring water bottles with their name on them. A snack/activity calendar will be sent home the first week of camp.

Pony Camp
This unique program provides an exciting introduction to the wonderful world of equines in a fun-filled, non-threatening atmosphere. Pony Share will review safety rules and assign small groups to a size-related pony under a qualified instructor. Basic anatomy, equine senses, body language, English and Western riding are just some of the topics that will be taught. Participants will get to ride 3-4 times during each session. This program enhances teamwork and self-esteem while helping to develop an appreciation and respect for animals.

Tennis Camp
Back for the second year, this camp will provide professional instruction combined with a positive environment that puts fun first. We are creating an experience that campers of any skill level will enjoy. Throughout the week, lessons will be taught on serving, volleying, ground strokes and other key aspects of the game. These skills will be improved through a combination of instruction, drill work and games. If you want to improve your game and have a ton of fun, this camp is for you! Camp will be taught by Shawn Newlin & Nate Etter, PTR certified coaches and state & district qualifying doubles team. Ages 6-14.

Lacrosse Camp
Off-season is the time for improvements! The goal of this camp is to provide players information and direct instruction enabling them to improve and grow as a player. Camp will start with the basics and build to more advanced skills. Athletes will be broken into two groups for appropriate skill development (Junior High and Beginner Levels). Time will be spent working on improving stick skills, individual position work and full field or 6-on-6 scrimmage. Full equipment is needed including a mouthpiece (GEARS has limited supplies for campers to borrow on a first come/first serve basis). Under the direction of Bill Pappalardo, Elizabethtown Middle School Lacrosse Club Coach, and current area coaches and college players. T-shirt is included in the fee. Camp is for boys entering grades 7-12.

CSI E-town
A crime has occurred, and camp participants become the lead investigators and forensics team. Each night, students will learn about a new scientific technique used to solve crimes, and use their new knowledge to study fingerprints, threads, hair samples and chemicals. At the end of the week, students will prepare a brief presentation of their evidence for their parents to show who committed the crime, and how they were caught. Instructor is Molly Metcalf, Manheim Township Physical Science Teacher. Ages 9-12.

Cheer Camp
Heather Jungfer, Elizabethtown Varsity Cheerleading Coach, will instruct this camp. Heather has been coaching for 9 years and has worked for the National Cheerleading Association for 6 years. This camp will cover all the basic technical skills of cheerleading such as motions, jumps, dance, tumbling and stunts. Your child will also learn fun and innovative material including cheers, chants and dances. As well as, learn the proper technique for beginning tumbling and stunting, and for the more advanced, learn progressive new skills in these areas. Fee includes a t-shirt.

FORE!! The objective of this class is to introduce etiquette, rules and the golf swing to those that have an interest in the game of golf. Participants will attain a strong foundation and understanding of the game. By the end of class, participants will have the ability and confidence to play an enjoyable, laid back round of golf with friends. Chaz Cline, golf pro, will instruct. Golf clubs will be provided if needed. August 26 is optional. Participants must pay $10 to Groff’s to go out on the course with Chaz to play until dark. Players must walk the course.

Pickle-Ball
All ages are invited to play in this new program. Pickle-Ball is a combination of tennis and badminton played on a badminton sized court with lightweight paddles and plastic perforated balls (much like wiffle balls). These elements produce exciting, long rallies which consist of volleys at the net and ground strokes similar to tennis. Pickle-Ball is a great equalizer for differences in age, sex, strength and athletic ability. Equipment is available.
