This Summer, your child can have fun with other kids right in your own neighborhood. Program leaders will lead supervised and quality recreation activities. Kids will learn social and physical skills through recreation activities, but it’s more than fun and games. This program promotes good citizenship among children, and the fun activities keep kids active and entertained.-sun-clipart-1600_1403

Free Introduction to the playground program. Meet the staff and participate in fun playground activities.

* Your choice of site! Registered participants are welcomed and encouraged to attend any and all sites.

Fee: $50/child for the entire Summer!!
Part-Time Fee: $5/day/child

Corporate and personal scholarships are available for children unable to afford fees. Please check with the GEARS Office.

Note To Parents: The Summer Playground Program is designed to provide “drop-in” activities for children and is not a substitute for childcare. Attendance is not mandatory nor enforced. Be sure to inform your child of your expectations regarding attendance.

GEARS does not provide accident insurance. Playground participants must provide their own accident insurance.

CAMPS

CSI E-town     reg_now_orange
Do you like to solve mysteries? Do you like solving puzzles? Join us for CSI E-town forensics camp. We will use REAL forensic techniques to solve mysteries. We will
investigate fingerprints, unknown white powders, unknown ink samples and CSI_Logomystery liquids. Each day we will learn a new forensic technique and then use it to solve a crime. E-town HS Chemistry teacher, Scott Baylor, will instruct. Ages 9-14

Participants will focus on learning and building tennis fundamentals with emphasis on the FUN! At least two different courts will provide quality instruction for all skill levels. Camp will focus on learning proper techniques, while cultivating a love of the sport through drills and games. Participants will receive a free racquet! Brenda McBride, EAHS Varsity Coach, will instruct. Ages 4-7

Create works of art from everyday recycled items!! Wire Hanger & Nylon Sculpture; Plastic Bag Crocheted Rug; Recycled Flowers (to exhibit around town); Up-Cycle T-Shirt Hula-hoop Weaving; Plastic Cap Mosaic; Stick Weavings. We will end the week with a small art display of our Artists works. Instructors are Cindy Telenko & Ayla West. Please save these items to bring the first day of camp or throughout the week:  plastic bottle caps from various drink containers (lids from plastic food containers as well; butter, etc.), plastic grocery bags, plastic drink bottles of various sizes, old t-shirts/tanks, buttons, plastic utensils, straws.  Ages 8-14

Designed to provide an overview and introduction to all aspects of track aTrack-and-field-clip-art-at-vector-clip-artnd field including but not limited to training for the events, rules of the sport, competitive strategies, equipment both for training and competing and nutritional needs and expectations. Camp will work on distance events, jumping events, throwing events, hurdles, sprint and relays. Participants will learn how track and field can prepare them for other sports. Coached by Derrick McDonald, EAHS Varsity Track Coach. Grades 3-8

E-town junior high coaches and high school players will teach the introductiField-Hockeyon of the game and basic skills to girls in grades 3-5. More advanced skills and game concepts for girls grades 6-8 will be taught. Participants will need field hockey stick, shinguards and mouth guard (field hockey sticks will be available if you don’t have one).  Fee includes a camp t-shirt.

2018 Camp Ladybug     reg_now_orange
This camp is for individuals who have mental and/or physical challenges. This camp provides a fun atmosphere where campers may participate in socialization skills and recreational activities. Activities include games, special appearances, visits to local recreation sites and fun learning!

Camp Lady Bug started the Summer of 1968 as a result of a group of parents who wanted a summer activity that would keep their children with special needs in a routine that kept their minds and bodies active. GEARS began administrating the Camp in 2002.
