UPDATE from GEARS about COVID-19
Our Preschool, Kindergarten and Before & After School Child Program is open from 6 am-6 pm. The link to our program is gearskids.org.
Effective immediately, the following changes regarding GEARS’ social distancing and face-mask guidelines will take effect:
Unvaccinated individuals: no policy changes. Masks are required for those who are
unvaccinated and for children under the age of 12, as they are not vaccine eligible. Additionally, social distancing is highly encouraged.
Vaccinated* individuals: are not required to wear face masks inside or outside of buildings while on campus. Vaccinated individuals are also not required to socially distance themselves from others, however, we suggest vaccinated individuals still consider social distancing, particularly in the presence of large groups of people.
(*According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or ≥2 weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson [J & J]/Janssen); there is currently no post-vaccination.)
11/18/2020: Updated Order of the Secretary of PA Dept of Health Requiring Universal Face Coverings
Please be advised that the PA Department of Health amended its Order requiring universal face coverings. This Order is effective and enforceable as of November 18, 2020 and will remain in effect until the PA Secretary of Health determines public health risk is sufficiently reduced. Below is the updated order for your review. Please give particular attention to the following: Section 2: Face Coverings Required and Section 3: Exceptions to Covering Requirements. In addition, please reference the DOH FAQ link below for further guidance on face coverings.
At all GEARS activities, a face covering must be worn at all times, this applies to staff and program participants, whether indoors or outdoors unless you qualify for an exception in Section 3 of the Order. If you believe you qualify for an exception please contact GEARS to discuss. This is a legal Order under the Disease Prevention and Control Law, law enforcement officers are authorized to issue warnings or citations to anyone who does not comply with the Order. The Department of Health can also issue warnings and citations to businesses, persons, facilities, and organizations that do not comply. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.
